Refunds for 1.5 M Faulty Gas Meters.

1/27/2015

Ofgem has ordered swift action after it was discovered unto 1.5 million customers using pre-payment gas meters
have been overcharged.

The meters manufacturers as far back as 2007, have a design fault which results in the customer being charged
more than they are actually using. The gas suppliers know who has been affected and are doing all they can to
rectify the situation. Ofgem says that they are determined that no customer should lose out and expect the industry
to repay all customers within a clearly agreed timetable, reconfigure meters as soon as possible and protect
customers in the meantime.

IF YOU THINK YO MAY BE AFFECTED, CONTACT YOUR GAS SUPPLIER OR OFGEM.

Gas Safety Week 15th to 21st September 2014

Maxgas are proud to have been a part of the Gas Safety Week which this year has been run from 15th -21st September,
the purpose of which is too make the public aware of the need to have their appliances inspected for safety by only
registered engineers who are part of the Gas Safe Scheme.

During this week we discovered various incidents including gas leaks, dangerous appliances with potentially deadly
carbon monoxide leaks, gas cookers without flame safety devices, poorly serviced and maintained boilers and so on.
Most of these problems were either down to illegal installers or lack of servicing and maintenance. These appliances
were turned off and or repaired within the owners consent, thereby saving lives and property from possible explosions
and fire which could have spread to nearby properties.

Gary Leighton speaking on behalf of Maxgas stated that the week had been a great success and looks forward
to continuing to educate the public and landlords as too the importance of using only suitably qualified tradesmen
to work on gas appliances in the home.
